  1. I have read 62 of these, but before I take on the task of reading them all, WHO picked out the one hundred? Who started the idea in the first place? Does it go on only for the summer? Please tell me more and your intentions in responding to the list.

    1. 62? Good for you!! The 100 books were selected by a national survey (the website says 7200 people were surveyed). The “Great American Read” is actually a PBS 8-part series about reading and books. If you go to the website, you can read more: https://www.pbs.org/the-great-american-read/home/. I’m a sucker for books AND lists, so I wanted to share this. I also thought I would challenge myself to read or re-read all 100, but the first 4 on the list were already taken out at the library, so I think other folks had the same idea. Still…it would be fun, I think, to share the experience.
