Small Consolations

My fingers hold tight
to winter still,
wanting the cold quiet
for tranquil pursuits,
the solitary walks
with words and wishes.

But the spring cacophony
calls loudly
disrupting poems!
and startling prayers!

Such demands.
Such demands.

Oh but those sweet
trailside wonders…
they do offer small
and hopeful
consolation I suppose.
