Ah Penny

They used to be called penny candy
because they cost

You took a handful, dropped them in a paper sack
And paid 13 pennies……..or 18 pennies, if you had big hands.

Today they cost nine and nine-tenths of a penny and come in a plastic bag that doesn’t make the same wonderful sound as a paper sack.

Does that make them pennies candy?

Not to be confused with Penny’s candy, in which case you won’t be eating them anyway. Unless she shares.

    1. I’m fine, thanks. Family (mom) stuff has me frazzled and stepping back for a bit. I am only visiting very few blogs when I feel the need to connect. I miss blogging, but I hope to be back soon.
      Thanks for asking.
      I love your writing. ;-)

    2. Have missed seeing your posts – but also remembered you had some family things going on. Been keeping you in my prayers! xoxo

  1. When I was a kid, the little town where we lived had a penny candy store. Of course, nothing was actually a penny, but I could fill a little bag for a dollar, so it felt like penny candy! The caramel creams are among my favorite!! :-)

    1. I remember going to this old corner store near my Grandparent’s house for penny candy and soda in glass bottles. Fun to have those memories, right?
