and he will shout it from rooftops

circus214

it required no acrobatic maneuver,
no perfectly perfected prose,
or metered response

there was no need to hold back,
contrive, force, restrain, feign —
no contortionists need apply

she did not walk the tightrope,
the gangplank, on eggshells —
the way was clear and easy

and he offered no illusion,
sleight of hand, trickery —
what you see is what you get

step right up! don’t be shy!
don’t be jaded, cynical,
doubtful — skeptic!

he loves her,
he just loves her,
and he will shout it from rooftops
