Morning rain over the Thimble Islands.
Sunday’s brief respite from the summer heat was an invitation to step out for a walk this morning, and I am so glad I did. The nature trail by the marsh was serene and still, and for the first time in weeks, my heart was, too.
Juniper and Yarrow
Queen Anne’s Lace
Oak along the path
Goldenrod and summer green
Storm passing
Towering marsh grasses
Shore birds reflecting
Such stillness

Spectacular shots, especially the first of morning rain over the Thimble Islands. Good thing you stepped out!
It was a perfect morning, and I managed to time it right before the heat pushed back up again!
Just seeing the pictures and reading this was very calming. Thanks Jen!
You should come for a walk sometime – it’s a beautiful spot!
Lovely!
Thanks! : )
I’m happy you’re enjoying moments of stillness. You had a lovely place to walk. That has to help :-)
It is one of the local places that always makes me remember how blessed I am to live here!
Quite wonderful. You needed this, we all need it.
Agreed, we all needed the break!
What time did you go? I wanna get up early before work and go too! I did the evening walk in Stony Creek village. Vacationers galore. I love the happy, carefree energy they create. The laughter and the clink of dishes and drink as the summer simmers on is magical. Vacation is only a mile away!
I think I was there well before 9. It was so quiet and peaceful. Does a spirit good! Aren’t we lucky for it to be so close?
Great photos Jen.
Thanks! : )
I could plunk my house down in the first image, what a view!
Isn’t it a sweet view? One of my favorites!
Beautiful pictures! While on vacation, I was lucky enough to experience a thunderstorm. It’s been months since we’ve seen rain, so it was quite nice to watch the gray clouds roll in! :-)
Thunderstorms in summer are the BEST. So is rain, actually. We’re enjoying a 60 degree day here and I am loving it!! How was vacation?
