That’s great, it starts with an earthquake…

“It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.” — R.E.M.

The question goes like this: What would you do if today was the end of the world?

For some, it’s their whole raison d’etre — make it through this life to graduate to some better, more perfect place or plane.

For others, it’s a party game, a meme, a situation we consider quietly in the dark recesses of our thoughts.

What would I take with me if the house was on fire?
What would I do if I won the lottery?
What if today was the end of the world?

What if today was the end of the world?

Would you get down on your knees and pray?
(Would you get down on your knees and sin?)

Would you suddenly find courage, strength and wherewithal to do the things you’ve always wanted to do?

Would you celebrate?
Would you mourn?

Would you cower in fear of the inevitable?
Would you shed fear and doubt and swim naked in the ocean?

Would you tell loved ones how you feel about them?
Really feel about them?

I love you.
I hate you.
I forgive you.

Would you allow yourself the guilty pleasures?

One more cigarette.
One more drink.
One more doughnut.

What would you do if it was the end of the world?

Think about it.
Because one day will be the end of the world.
For each of us. In our own time.

And wouldn’t it be a shame to leave all those things undone?
