A Fair Day: Variations on a Theme (4)

Everyone calls it the Big E. It’s New England’s equivalent of a State Fair, except all six states participate: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Last night I was reminded that all six of us would fit inside California – so one State Fair for the lot makes sense I suppose.

At the Big E, there are tons of exhibits and displays, entertainment and rides, all sorts of animals, more food than your brain (or your body, no matter how hard you try) can take in, and funnel cake (which is really a category all its own).

My friend Fred and I had a chance to wander the Big E this week and met up with some friends on the midway. It’s how we got to share in a little girl’s first ferris wheel ride. I think her expression says it all…
