Walk This Way

“Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside.”

— Elizabeth von Arnim, The Adventures of Elizabeth in Rügen

  1. So true. Though other modes have their merits, after walking their seems to be an increasing diminishing of the senses from biking to driving to flying. Puts me in mind of Thoreau’s great essay, “Walking”.

  2. Almost enough to get me walking —
    and that’s really saying something.
Love the quote as well as the photo. Enchanted April, or any month, I guess!

    1. I should post an aerial shot of where this trail is – it is really quite stunning. And an easy mile stroll where one can catch glimpses of heron, osprey, wildflowers and a breath-taking expanse of Long Island Sound.
