Several years ago, I read Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson. My favorite quote: “Remind yourself that when you die, your ‘in basket’ won’t be empty.” I do, indeed, remind myself of that, just about every time I set to taking some time off.
This weekend was no exception. But, full “in basket” notwithstanding, I did manage to disconnect for a few days. I finished the Julie & Julia book, visited with friends, ate some good food, slept late, and went swimming for the first time in ages!
Still, I couldn’t avoid the work completely, as I found myself fascinated by the clever branding efforts at the Hampton Inn I stayed at over the weekend.
If you ask the graphic designer in me, there’s nothing better than a good sans serif font, pragmatic punctuation, and some well-chosen words!
